Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections: The results of Tamil Nadu Assembly elections have thrown up one of the biggest surprises today, with actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) delivering a stunning blow to both DMK and AIADMK, potentially reshaping the political trajectory of the state. According to the Election Commission, the TVK has won 31 seats so far and is leading in 77 others, just short of the magic number of 118. The DMK has been pushed back to 61 seats, with AIADMK in third position (45 seats).
While some candidates registered big victories, others barely managed to scrape by with the lowest margin. Let’s take a look at the lowest margins by which candidates are leading or have won.
Who Has The Lowest Margins?
- Sankarapuram: DMK’s T Udhayasuriyan is leading against AIADMK’s R Rakesh by a mere margin of 32 votes.
- Paramethivelur: DMK candidate KS Moorthy is ahead of AIADMK’s S Sekar by 82 votes with three rounds of counting left to go.
- Kallakurchi: AIAMDK’s S Rajeev Gandhi is leading against TVK’s C Arul Vignesh by a margin of 156 votes, with two more rounds of counting to go.
- Veppanahalli: DMK’s PS Srinivasan defeated AIADMK’s KP Munusamy by a margin of 272 votes.
- Polur: TVK’s R Abishek is leading against DMDK’s P Saravanan by a margin of 316 votes.
- Ulundurpettai: DMK’s GR Vasanthavel is leading against AIADMK’s R Kumaraguru by a margin of 365 votes.
- Thirumayam: DMK’s S Regupathy is ahead of TVK’s C Chinthamani by a margin of 396 votes with four rounds of counting left to go.
- Tiruvannamalai: DMK’s EV Velu is ahead of TVK’s Arul Arumugam by 402 votes after 16 rounds of counting.
