After hikes in petrol and diesel prices, the cost of CNG was also increased by Rs 2 as the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz continues in the wake of the war in West Asia, involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
The Centre hiked petrol prices by Rs 3.14 per litre, while diesel prices surged by Rs 3.11 per litre. The cost of petrol has now reached up to Rs 97.77, while the price of diesel has risen to Rs 90.67.
The development comes as the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz — a critical maritime chokepoint that accounts for around one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas trade — continues, disrupting the global energy supply.
