From Lucknow classrooms to an MBA in the United Kingdom, Prateek Yadav carved a path far removed from politics – built instead on education, business and fitness

Following the completion of his MBA, Prateek Yadav decided against entering politics and instead channelled his efforts into business and wellness.
Prateek Yadav, the younger son of the late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and half-brother of former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, passed away in Lucknow on Wednesday at the age of 38. He was also the husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav.
According to officials, Prateek Yadav died at Lucknow’s Civil Hospital after being brought in an unresponsive condition. Hospital sources said doctors declared him dead on arrival. His body was later sent for a post-mortem examination, while authorities initiated procedures to ascertain further details surrounding his death.
A Life Away From Politics
Unlike several members of the influential Yadav family, Prateek Yadav chose to stay away from active politics and never contested elections. Instead, he built his identity through business, fitness, and social initiatives.
He was widely known as a real estate developer and fitness enthusiast, with business interests linked to property ventures and fitness enterprises in and around Lucknow. He also founded a premium gym, Iron Core Fit, in the city and was associated with social welfare work through the Jeev Ashray Foundation, an NGO involved in charitable activities and animal welfare initiatives.
Despite belonging to one of Uttar Pradesh’s most prominent political families, Prateek Yadav consistently maintained a private and non-political life.
Prateek Yadav’s Education Background
Prateek Yadav had placed strong emphasis on education from an early age. His academic journey began in Lucknow, where he studied at the renowned City Montessori School. During his school years, he developed a keen interest in discipline and fitness alongside academics.
After completing school, he pursued a Bachelor of Commerce degree at University of Lucknow, where he built a foundation in business and accounting. It was during this period that he developed a growing interest in management and entrepreneurship.
He later moved to the United Kingdom for higher studies and earned an MBA from University of Leeds. During his management studies, he focused on international business, leadership, and management skills, knowledge that later reflected in his entrepreneurial ventures.
Friends and associates often described him as someone who strongly believed that education and physical fitness together shaped a successful life.
Fitness And Entrepreneurial Ventures
Following the completion of his MBA, Prateek Yadav decided against entering politics and instead channelled his efforts into business and wellness.
He established Iron Core Fit, a high-end gym in Lucknow, and remained actively involved in the fitness industry. Known for his disciplined lifestyle, he regularly promoted physical wellbeing and healthy living.
Alongside his fitness ventures, he was involved in the real estate sector and supported several social initiatives, particularly those connected with animal welfare and community service.
Reports Of Marital Differences
Earlier this year, reports had emerged regarding differences between Prateek Yadav and Aparna Yadav. In January, Prateek shared an Instagram post stating that he was seeking a divorce from Aparna Yadav. In the post, he allegedly accused her of damaging family relationships and prioritising personal ambition. He had also claimed that he was struggling with poor mental health and felt that his condition was being overlooked.
However, subsequent reports suggested that tensions between the couple had eased. The two were later seen sharing photographs together, indicating that relations between them had improved.
Prateek Yadav and Aparna Yadav were married in 2011.
