A 22-year-old woman, daughter of a senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, was allegedly raped and murdered at her home in southeast Delhi’s Kailash Hills on Wednesday morning, with investigators now linking the prime suspect to another sexual assault hours earlier in Rajasthan.
Police said the woman, who was preparing for the UPSC examination, was found dead by her family. Preliminary findings suggest she was sexually assaulted and then strangled using a mobile phone charger cable. She was alone at home when the crime took place.
Timeline Of Events
According to police, the accused Rahul Meena, 19, allegedly raped a woman in his village in Alwar hours before the Delhi incident. The survivor later informed her family. Officials said Meena was known to the victim’s family and had prior links with them.
Entered Delhi House Around 6 AM
Police suspect Meena travelled to Delhi soon after the Alwar incident and entered the Kailash Hills residence around 6 am, when the victim’s parents had stepped out for their routine gym visit.
Inside The House
Investigators said Meena, who had worked as a domestic help for the family until about a month ago, was familiar with the house layout and the family’s routine. He allegedly attacked the woman, sexually assaulted her, and inflicted blunt force injuries using a stick.

Murder And Escape
Police said the accused then strangled the victim using a mobile charger cable before fleeing the spot. Delhi Police later arrested the accused on Wednesday night.
He was traced to a hotel in Dwarka, where he was taken into custody.
Probe Expands
Police said Meena had been removed from his job earlier over alleged financial irregularities and may have been aware of the victim’s routine. Investigators are examining whether this, along with possible resentment, could have been a motive.
Two people, including a car cleaner and a house help from the area, have been detained for questioning. CCTV footage from nearby locations is being analysed, and forensic teams have collected evidence from the crime scene.
Cops said an investigation is underway to establish the full sequence of events and confirm the link between the two alleged crimes.
