Assembly Elections 2026 Live Updates: Campaigning for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections will end today, triggering the mandatory 48-hour silence period before polling. The state is scheduled to vote in a single phase on April 23 across all 234 constituencies.
As per Election Commission norms, all campaign activities, including rallies, public meetings and political advertisements, must cease 48 hours before voting begins. The provision is intended to give voters a quiet window to make their choice without external influence.
West Bengal has witnessed an intense, high-stakes contest, primarily between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has led a series of key rallies, while the BJP has deployed its full campaign machinery to mobilise voters across constituencies.
The state will vote in two phases, with polling scheduled for April 23 and April 29.
