In Fatehgarh Sahib, husband and father‑in‑law arrested in wife’s suicide case: trap set two days earlier, accused of dowry harassment against in‑laws.

In the village of Firozpur in Fatehgarh Sahib, the police have arrested Komalpreet Kaur’s husband and father‑in‑law in connection with her 24‑year‑old suicide. The complaint was filed by Komalpreet’s maternal uncle Rocky Singh, and the case was registered against husband Lakhbir Singh, father‑in‑law Sarbjit Singh, Jeth Jatinder Singh, and mother‑in‑law Kuldeep Kaur. Rocky Singh stated that Komalpreet married Lakhbir Singh on 5 November 2025. Since the marriage, the in‑law family had harassed her to reduce the dowry. The body was found on 28 September, showing a rope mark on the neck. On the evening of 28 September at about 5:30 pm, Sarbjit Singh called Rocky Singh to inform him of Komalpreet’s entrapment and death. When the family arrived at the scene, Komalpreet’s body was found with rope marks on her neck. The in‑law family accused the relatives of harassment over dowry. While the police are searching for the suspects, they have arrested Lakhbir Singh and Sarbjit Singh. The search for mother‑in‑law Kuldeep Kaur and Jeth Jatinder Singh continues. SHO Rupinder Singh said that the remaining suspects would also be apprehended soon.
