‘Had Didi Given Money…’: Accused Shows No Remorse After Raping, Murdering IRS Officer’s Daughter

“If Didi had given money, this would not have happened”, said Rahul Meena, who raped and murdered the 22-year-old daughter of an IRS officer in Delhi’s Amar Colony.

Referring to the victim as “Didi”, the accused showed no remorse during the probe and told investigators that his sole intention in entering the bureaucrat’s residence was to get money.

“It just happened,” he told investigators, according to a report by news agency ANI.

According to the report, citing police sources, the accused told investigators that the IRS officer’s family treated him very well and gave him a monthly salary of Rs 20,000. He revealed that he accessed entry into the house by falsely claiming that the victim’s mother, whom he referred to as “aunty”, had called him to give him money.

“Aunty ne bulaya tha for money“, said Meena, the accused.

The victim, an IIT graduate and a UPSC aspirant, was studying in her room when Meena entered the house and demanded money. When she refused, an argument broke out.

The accused warned her not to raise alarm before launching a violent attack, as per the ANI report.

Rape, Murder, And Robbery

According to sources, the accused first attempted to strangulate the victim with a mobile phone charger cable, after which she fell conscious. It is during this stage that the police believe the sexual assault took place.

Accused Meena hit the victim three times with a heavy object, leading to fatal injuries. After this, he allegedly dragged the victim to use her fingerprints to unlock a digital locker.

When the attempt failed, he used a screwdriver to break another lock and fled the scene after stealing cash and valuables.

Meena was arrested from a hotel in Dwarka, where he was hiding. On Thursday, he was produced before the Saket Court that sent him to a four-day judicial custody.
