Vijay, the founder and chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has been actively campaigning in Tamil Nadu for the upcoming elections.

Vijay has taken on both the ruling DMK and AIADMK and is contesting from the Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East seats. (PTI)

However, there has been criticism that Vijay does not step out after 6 pm for election campaigning. His father, SA Chandrasekhar, explains why that is so. (PTI)

Vijay’s father said many people expect him to campaign at night, but he deliberately avoids doing so due to the Karur stampede, which claimed 41 lives. (PTI)

Chandrasekhar said whenever Vijay goes to a public meeting, he gets anxious about seeing the size of the crowd after the incident in Karur. (PTI)

“Vijay speaks only for about 10 to 15 minutes. Others take around 10 minutes just for formal greetings and addressing dignitaries… but Vijay gets straight to the point and addresses the people directly,” Chandrasekhar said. (PTI)

Speaking on Vijay’s divorce with Sangeetha Sornalingam, Chandrasekhar said some people were trying to tarnish his character by portraying him as being against women.
