West Bengal Re-Poll LIVE Updates: Repolling To Begin At 7 AM Across 15 Booths In 2 Constituencies

West Bengal Election Re-Poll Live Updates: The Election Commission of India has ordered fresh voting in 15 polling booths in West Bengal after complaints of irregularities during the second phase of Assembly elections held on April 29.

The repoll will take place on May 2 between 7 am and 6 pm. Most of the affected booths—11 in total—are located in Magrahat Paschim, while the remaining four fall under the Diamond Harbour constituency in South 24 Parganas district.

The decision follows reports from local election officials and concerns raised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Party leader Amit Malviya alleged that some voters were not allowed to freely choose their preferred candidate in parts of the Diamond Harbour area, particularly in Falta. There were also claims that buttons on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) had been tampered with.

Earlier, West Bengal’s Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal had assured that any verified case of EVM tampering, including reports of buttons being taped, would lead to a repoll in those booths. After reviewing the situation, the Election Commission decided to act to maintain the credibility of the voting process.

The final phase of polling for the high-octane West Bengal assembly elections concluded at 6 PM on April 29 and the counting of votes will be done on May 4.
