Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Sunday expressed confidence that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) will win the West Bengal Assembly Election, adding it won’t secure “such a large majority like last time”.

With barely a few hours left for vote counting in West Bengal, political temperatures are on the rise. While the incumbent Trinamool Congress (TMC) is confident of its victory, the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is seeking to wrest power in the state.

Tharoor, a Congress MP from Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram, said, “All the exit polls there have created a lot of confusion. My sense is that Mamata Banerjee will win. But she probably won’t have such a large majority like last time”, as quoted by news agency ANI.

West Bengal Assembly Polls 2025

Voting in West Bengal is scheduled to begin at 8 A.M. tomorrow, May 4. However, one of the 294 constituencies — the Falta seat in South 24 Parganas — will not undergo counting tomorrow after the Election Commission of India (ECI) ordered a re-poll after charges of electoral irregularities.

Polling in Falta will be held on May 21, with the counting slated for May 24.
