The protests follow the killing of Parvinder Singh Jhota, an anti-drug activist who was allegedly shot dead on October 13 during a dispute reportedly linked to drugs.
A protest has been continuing outside the hospital since the incident. Demonstrators have expressed anger over the handling of the case and are demanding justice for Jhota and action against those responsible.
The case has also intensified political tensions in Mansa, with protesters raising questions about alleged links between the main accused and local political figures.
MLA Vijay Singla Meets Two Injured Men
During his hospital visit, Singla enquired about the condition of two men injured in the firing incident. He said doctors had informed him that one patient required surgery, while the other needed a plaster cast.
The remaining two injured men were receiving treatment at hospitals in Bathinda and Ludhiana, according to reports.
Singla also rejected allegations that the main accused, Ashwani Kumar, had enjoyed his patronage. He challenged those making the allegations to provide evidence of any meeting or conversation between them in the past five years.
The allegations have not been established as facts, and Singla has publicly denied them.
Action Committee Announces Further Protest
The action committee formed to seek justice in the Jhota murder case has announced plans to surround the residences and offices of AAP MLAs and ministers on October 19.
Jhota's family has also refused to perform his last rites until its demands are addressed, according to media reports.
