Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday embarked on a six-day diplomatic tour covering the United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy, with a focus on deepening strategic partnerships and enhancing cooperation across key sectors amid evolving global geopolitical challenges.

The high-level visit is expected to feature bilateral meetings, trade and investment discussions, as well as talks on energy, technology, defence and regional security.

UAE | May 14-15

  • Bilateral meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan
  • Talks on India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership
  • Discussions on energy cooperation and the West Asia situation
  • Meetings focused on trade, investment and Indian diaspora welfare

Netherlands | May 15-17

  • Meeting with Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima
  • Bilateral talks with Dutch PM Rob Jetten
  • Discussions on defence, security, semiconductors, green hydrogen and water partnership
  • Engagements aimed at boosting trade and investment ties

Sweden | May 17-18

  • Bilateral talks with Swedish PM Ulf Kristersson
  • Discussions on AI, emerging technologies, startups, defence, climate action and resilient supply chains
  • Addressing the European Round Table for Industry with Ursula von der Leyen

Norway | May 18-19

  • Participation in the third India-Nordic Summit in Oslo

  • Focus on defence, security, clean energy, innovation, science and technology cooperation

What’s On Agenda?

The five-nation visit of PM Modi is expected to focus on strengthening India’s strategic, economic and energy partnerships with key countries in West Asia and Europe amid ongoing global geopolitical and economic uncertainty.
