Delhi UPSC aspirant and daughter of an IRS officer was found strangled at home. Police suspect their 19-year-old former domestic help’s role, charging cable was likely used.
The victims was found dead by her family members in their house in Kailash Hills under suspicious circumstances.
A 21-year-old UPSC aspirant was found dead on Wednesday morning at her residence in Delhi, police said, adding that the victim was likely raped before being killed by their former househelp.
According to police, the victim, daughter of an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, was found dead by her family members inside the house in Kailash Hills under suspicious circumstances.
Police have suspected the involvement of a 19-year-old domestic help, Rahul, originally from Rajasthan, who used to work at the house for past eights months before being fired two months ago. “When the police initiated their investigation and analyzed CCTV footage from the surrounding area, Rahul was spotted on camera around 6:00 AM,” police said, adding that he is currently absconding.

Police said: “The investigation revealed that the reason for his termination was financial misappropriation; Rahul was siphoning off money while purchasing household supplies from nearby shops. The family members discovered this dishonesty, leading to his dismissal.”
According to reports regarding the incident, at around 5:30 AM according to their daily routine — the woman’s parents left for their morning walk and gym session. However, when they returned around 8:30 AM, they found the front door of the house ajar, and their daughter’s body was lying inside.
Police said: “A PCR call was made to the police at 8:49 AM. Upon reaching the scene, preliminary investigations conducted by the police revealed that the woman had first been involved in a physical struggle, was subsequently raped, and was then strangled to death using a mobile phone charger cable.”
“There were also visible injury marks on the deceased’s body. The police immediately rushed the woman to a hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead,” they said.
Citing the possible reason for the murder, police said: “The reason he specifically targeted the 22-year-old daughter was that he was well aware that her parents would be away at the gym during those morning hours. Since other domestic staff members also visit the house during the day, the morning hours were chosen to exact revenge for being fired.”
They further said: “A sexual assault has taken place; this will be confirmed by the post-mortem report. An investigation is underway to determine whether the perpetrator also fled with any stolen items from the house. It is suspected that the domestic worker may have also made off with some stolen property.”
After the incident, AAP president Saurabh Bharadwaj attacked Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and said: “This is very tragic. The CM is busy in political campaign in Bengal, Tamilnadu, Keralam.”
