US Ambassador Sergio Gor targets $500 billion US-India trade by 2030, touts progress on a trade deal, defense ties, Pax Silica, and an upcoming visit by Secretary Marco Rubio.

The United States aims to increase its trade with India to $500 billion by 2030, US Ambassador and Special Envoy to South and Central Asia Sergio Gor said on Thursday while empasising the growing economic partnership between the two countries.
After attending a meeting with the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce in India, Gor shared a post on X saying that the US companies in India are working towards expanding trade and reinforcing bilateral partnership.
“Great discussion with @AmchamIndiaBoard to advance U.S.-India trade and investment ties. We are focused on a clear goal: taking U.S.-India trade to $500 billion by 2030. American companies operating in India are driving U.S. exports, expanding trade, attracting investment, and reinforcing the strength of our partnership,” he said.
The remarks came days after he marked 100 days in office.
On Tuesday, Gor shared a post commemorating his 100 days in office and highlighted progress in areas such as a proposed trade deal, defence cooperation and India’s participation in initiatives like Pax Silica.
“100 days in as U.S. Ambassador to India — and we’ve hit the ground running! From advancing a major U.S.-India trade deal, welcoming India into Pax Silica, strengthening defense cooperation, and engaging leaders across government and business — the momentum is undeniable. I also traveled to Washington to meet with President Trump, Vice President Vance, and Secretary Rubio to deepen this critical partnership. This is just the beginning. The United States and India aren’t just talking — we’re delivering results,” he said.

Along with the post, he also shared a video message in which he said he had recently visited Washington where he met US President Donald Trump, Vice President J. D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to deepen bilateral ties.He described India as a “vitally important” partner and said relations are currently on an “incredible footing,” with several major announcements expected in the coming weeks.Gor also confirmed that Rubio is scheduled to visit India next month for the first time, with preparations underway for a ministerial-level Quad meeting to be hosted in the country.
