Voting saw strong participation in all five regions, a factor that could influence the final outcome. Assam recorded a turnout of 85.96 per cent among its 2.5 crore electorate, while Puducherry logged 89.87 per cent voting, its highest since 1964. Tamil Nadu, which voted in a single phase on April 23, saw around 82.24 per cent turnout across its 234 constituencies, with steady queues reported through the day.
West Bengal, voting in two phases, has also recorded heavy participation. Turnout crossed 90 per cent in the first phase, while voting in the second and final phase is underway, with over 78 per cent turnout recorded till 3 pm. Kerala, which voted on April 9, reported similarly strong participation, in line with its consistent trend of high voter turnout.
In several states, women voters turned out in higher numbers than men, adding another key layer to the electoral picture.
Exit polls offer only an indicative snapshot and not final results, and should be read with caution as counting day approaches..
