Salim Dola, an alleged associate of Dawood Ibrahim and accused of peddling drugs in the country, was brought to Mumbai on Wednesday evening. He was brought to Indira Gandhi International Airport from Turkey on Tuesday.
Dola (59) was detained by the Turkish Intelligence Agency on Saturday, following inputs from India’s agencies. He had a Red Notice issued against him and was brought to Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday.
He is believed to operate a multi-million dollar synthetic drug network, primarily based in the United Arab Emirates. Reports suggest he has earned over Rs 100 crore in the past two years.
Dola has been linked to multiple major drug seizures involving heroin, charas, mephedrone, mandrax, and methamphetamine across Maharashtra and Gujarat. He is alleged to play the role of a bulk supplier to downstream drug distribution networks in India.
According to the Interpol Red Notice, against Dola states that he is facing multiple charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
As per ANI, the law prescribes stringent punishment, including a minimum of 10 years’ imprisonment for serious offences involving commercial quantities of narcotics, along with strict bail provisions.
