Mumbai, September 1, 2026: Veteran social activist Anna Hazare, 89, has been admitted to Bombay Hospital in Mumbai after his blood reports indicated a renal (kidney) infection, according to his associate Datta Awari.
Hazare was brought to the Mumbai hospital on Monday night from his native Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra’s Ahilyanagar district, where he had initially received treatment after developing health problems. His associate said that Hazare is currently doing fine.
Shifted to Mumbai for Further Treatment
Hazare had been admitted to a local hospital in Ahilyanagar last week. His condition reportedly improved after initial treatment, but doctors subsequently decided to shift him to Bombay Hospital for a more detailed medical assessment.
Reports have also mentioned dehydration, viral infection and kidney-related complications. Doctors at Bombay Hospital are conducting further tests to determine the appropriate course of treatment.
Health Being Closely Monitored
Hazare is reportedly under the supervision of Dr Gautam Bhansali at Bombay Hospital.
While some reports said he was admitted to the ICU, his aide has described his condition as stable. Doctors are continuing investigations and monitoring his health.
