Bengaluru South Fake Currency Racket Busted: Seven Arrested, ₹5 Lakh Worth of Printing Material Seized

Bengaluru, September 1, 2026: Police have busted an alleged fake currency printing racket in Bengaluru South district, arresting seven people and recovering materials reportedly being used to manufacture counterfeit notes.

The arrests were made on August 31 after police received information that fake currency was being printed inside a newly constructed house in the Aijur police station area of Ramanagara Town.

Seven Suspects Arrested

Police identified the arrested suspects as Santosh (35), Satish (36), Sampath (33), Rajesh (34), Renukaraj (31), Shivaraj (42) and Govindaraj (50).

Acting on the tip-off, police conducted a raid at the premises and took all seven suspects into custody.

Fake Currency Material Worth Around ₹5 Lakh Seized

According to a senior police officer, investigators recovered paper bundles related to counterfeit notes valued at approximately ₹5 lakh. The material was reportedly still at the printing stage.

Police also seized chemical substances allegedly being used in the preparation of counterfeit currency.

Case Registered Under BNS

A case has been registered at Aijur Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police are now investigating the alleged network, including the intended distribution of the counterfeit currency and whether more people were involved in the operation.

The seizure of currency-printing material has prompted investigators to examine the full extent of the operation.

Police are expected to question the arrested suspects about the source of the equipment and materials, the intended circulation of the fake notes and possible links to other individuals.
