SGPC chief slams Haryana cops for case against office-bearers - The Tribune

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Harjinder Singh Dhami has slammed the Haryana Police for registering a case against SGPC senior vice-president Raghujit Singh Virk, executive committee member Baldev Singh Qaimpur and others.

In a press note issued here, he said instead of arresting Baljit Singh Daduwal and his associates, who attempted to take forcible possession of the SGPC-run Miri Piri Medical College at Shahabad Markanda, the police had chosen to file a case against representatives of the institution, thereby supporting the accused.

The Sikh body president said it appeared that the government was giving tacit approval to such acts of high-handedness instead of curbing them.

Dhami urged the Haryana Government to immediately withdraw the case registered against Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee office-bearers and ensure strict action against those involved in the attempt of taking forcible possession of the college.
