Today’s Weather: Delhi-NCR witnessed unseasonal rain on Tuesday, leading to a drop in daytime temperatures. Several parts of the national capital saw showers on March 31, bringing temporary relief from the heat. Residents experienced cooler conditions during the day as rainfall spread across the region.
More rain likely this week
The rainy spell is expected to continue over the next few days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), skies will remain cloudy in Delhi until Monday, April 6.
Light rain, along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of up to 40 kmph, hit Delhi-NCR Tuesday evening. Similar weather conditions may return around April 3 and 4.
Temperatures to rise gradually
Despite the rain, temperatures are expected to increase gradually over the next three days by around 3 to 4 degrees Celsius.
In the past 24 hours, maximum temperatures dropped slightly by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures stayed almost unchanged. Night temperatures ranged between 18°C and 20°C, while daytime temperatures were between 33°C and 34°C.

Rain and storms across North India
North and northwest India are set to see active weather. Light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are expected across several states.
Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh and west Rajasthan may see scattered rain and winds of 30 to 50 kmph around March 31. Similar conditions are likely in east Rajasthan on March 31 and April 1.
Fresh western disturbance to intensify weather
Weather activity is expected to pick up again later this week due to a fresh western disturbance. Between April 3 and April 6, widespread rain or snowfall, along with thunderstorms and strong winds, may affect Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, as well as Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
During this period, parts of north India, including Delhi and nearby regions, may also see scattered rain and winds reaching up to 60 kmph.
Eastern India regions to see rainfall too
Eastern and northeastern areas are also likely to witness rain. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may receive light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms between March 31 and April 2.
Jharkhand may see similar conditions on March 31, April 1 and April 4, while Bihar may receive rain on March 31 and April 6. Odisha is expected to see rainfall between March 31 and April 4.
