A police spokeswoman told AFP no one was inside the site run by Christians for Israel, a non-profit, in the central city of Nijkerk when the explosion went off outside its gate late on Friday (April 3, 2026).
The incident comes after a string of similar night-time attacks on Jewish sites in the Netherlands and neighbouring Belgium in recent weeks that has heightened concerns over antisemitism in the wake of the war in West Asia.
In a statement on its website, the group expressed shock and said the blast fits a pattern of attacks on Jewish sites that are intended to sow fear.
Dutch police begin probe
Police in Gelderland province said in a post on X that nobody was injured in the explosion on Friday (April 3, 2026) night and that it caused only limited damage at an address in Nijkerk, in the central Netherlands.
Police appealed for witnesses and said nobody has been arrested.
Authorities reinforced security around Jewish sites in the wake of explosions last month outside synagogues in Liege, Belgium, and the Dutch port city of Rotterdam and outside a Jewish school in Amsterdam.
