Congress has announced a “3 Lakh Govt. Jobs in 300 Days” initiative, committing to fill all vacant posts across government departments.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram, and State Congress chief K Selvaperunthagai were present during the launch.
Congress on Thursday launched its manifesto for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, promising a “Rabies Free TN” through 100% dog vaccination and sterilisation by 2030. The party outlined a broad agenda to “Transform Tamil Nadu” with a focus on employment, public safety, healthcare, and law and order.
The manifesto was released in Chennai in the presence of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram, and State Congress chief K Selvaperunthagai.
Among the key highlights is a Universal Basic Income (UBI) scheme, under which the party has promised Rs 2,000 per month for every family. The amount will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of women, covering all Ration Card holders across the state.
To address unemployment, the INC has announced a “3 Lakh Govt. Jobs in 300 Days” initiative, committing to fill all vacant posts across government departments. The party has also promised to publish department-wise vacancy lists and create a transparent recruitment calendar to provide clarity on job opportunities.
Public safety features prominently in the document, with a plan to recruit 40,000 new police personnel, including 10,000 Women Commandos. The party has further pledged to establish a world-class call centre integrating police, fire, child helpline, and ambulance services, with “Dial 100″ as a unified emergency number.
The manifesto also outlines a vision to position Tamil Nadu as a Global Spiritual Tourist Centre by promoting historical places of worship, offering multilingual guides, and organising heritage tours.
On infrastructure and road safety, the Congress has promised an aggressive push for pothole-free roads and set a “Near Zero Road Accident Deaths” target, alongside its commitment to eradicate rabies through dog vaccination and sterilisation.
Tamil Nadu will vote in a single phase on April 23 across all 234 constituencies, with counting scheduled for May 4.
