To conduct a comprehensive survey and enrolment drive for the newly approved Mukh Mantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana aimed at providing direct monthly financial assistance varying between Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,500 to women, aganwadi workers are being engaged.

The scheme, cleared by the Cabinet on March 30, will offer Rs 1,000 per month to general category women and Rs 1,500 per month to women from Scheduled Castes category.

Sources in the Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development said the survey was aimed at creating a data base of beneficiaries and ensuring timely disbursal of the monthly assistance.

The aganwadi workers would be trained to use the app on which the profile of the beneficiaries would be uploaded. Hargobind Kaur of Punjab Aaganwadi Employees Federation Union said their main job was to track and provide the supplementary nutrition to nearly 12 lakh beneficiaries under the Poshan Abhiyaan. “For the additional job of surveying the beneficiaries under the monthly financial assistance scheme, extra honorarium should be paid to the aganwadi workers,” she added.
