A training aircraft operated by Redbird company made an emergency landing in Maharashtra’s Baramati on Wedesday morning after developing a technical problem during a training session.

According to preliminary information, the trainee pilot aircraft encountered trouble around 8:40 am near Gojubavi village. Officials said the aircraft lost engine power while flying over the northern side of the village, around 1.5 kilometres away from the main residential area.

Pilot Lands Aircraft Safely

Despite the mid-air problem, the trainee pilot managed to safely land the aircraft in a nearby sugarcane field. The emergency landing helped avoid a major accident and ensured that no one on the ground was harmed.

No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. However, the trainee pilot was said to be in a state of shock following the emergency landing.

Soon after the aircraft landed, local residents rushed to the spot. Police personnel and administrative officials also reached the area and started an investigation into the incident. Authorities are now looking into the exact cause of the technical failure that led to the emergency landing.

What Aircraft Company Said?

A Tecnam P2008JC aircraft bearing registration VT-RFY was involved in an incident near Gojubavi in the vicinity of Baramati Airport on Tuesday. According to preliminary information, the aircraft was on a solo training flight at the time of the occurrence.

Officials said the cadet pilot is safe and no injuries have been reported. Authorities added that the situation is fully under control and necessary action is being taken in coordination with the relevant agencies. A detailed update on the incident is expected after further assessment and investigation into the circumstances surrounding the emergency situation involving the training aircraft.

Earlier Incident in Same Village

This is not the first aircraft-related incident reported from Gojubavi village. Earlier, an aircraft in which NCP leader and former Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar was travelling had also crashed in the same village.

Investigation Underway

Officials said the incident is being examined based on the initial information received from Baramati. The focus of the investigation will be on the reported engine failure and the circumstances that forced the aircraft to make an emergency landing.
