The BJP had campaigned heavily on the promise, presenting it as an expanded alternative to the Trinamool Congress government’s Laxmir Bhandar scheme, under which beneficiaries currently receive Rs 1,500. Officials said the finer details of Annapurna Bhandar are still being finalised.
Free Bus Rides For Women From June 1
In another relief measure, women across the state will be allowed to travel free of cost in government-operated buses from June 1. The initiative is expected to benefit a large number of daily commuters, particularly students and working women.
