West Bengal Election Results 2026: Counting of votes for the West Bengal Assembly elections will be held on May 4, with the Election Commission of India (ECI) putting in place extensive measures to ensure a smooth and transparent process across the state.

The vote counting will begin at 8 am simultaneously across all districts, covering 293 of the 294 constituencies. As per procedure, postal ballots will be counted first, followed by votes recorded in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Each constituency will go through multiple rounds of counting, with updates released after every round and final results declared by returning officers after verification.

Security has been tightened at counting centres, with central forces, state police and CCTV surveillance deployed. Entry will be restricted to authorised personnel, while strong rooms housing EVMs remain under strict guard.

Early trends are expected to emerge within the first one to two hours of counting, with clearer leads likely by the afternoon. However, in closely contested seats, final outcomes may take longer, with results expected by evening.

The outcome will determine whether the ruling All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) retains power or if the opposition, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), makes significant gains.

Voters can track results in real time through the Election Commission’s official website and mobile platforms. Live coverage will also be available on television and digital platforms, with dedicated election pages and social media updates providing constituency-wise trends throughout the day.

The live broadcast is scheduled to begin at 6 am.

Voters can track real-time updates on the ECI website – eci.gov.in
