Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday asserted that the BJP is set to form the government in West Bengal, as he addressed a Vijay Sankalp Sabha in Bangaon in North 24 Parganas district, launching a multi-pronged attack on the ruling All India Trinamool Congress.
Projecting confidence in the BJP’s electoral prospects, PM Modi said, “The final phase will make sure the BJP comes to power.”
Referring to voter participation, he added, “In the first phase of voting, West Bengal has recorded a remarkable voter turnout,” and claimed that “TMC’s arrogance is shattered with the first phase.”
Polling for the first phase, held on April 23 across 152 constituencies, recorded a turnout of around 93 per cent, indicating strong voter engagement.
The remaining 142 seats will go to the polls in the second phase on April 29 under tight security arrangements.
SHARP ATTACK ON TMC OVER GOVERNANCE, LAW AND ORDER
Stepping up his criticism of the ruling party, PM Modi alleged a collapse in governance and law and order.
“Goons of TMC behave as if they are the government,” he said.
Targeting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he added, “Mamata Banerjee came to power using the slogan ‘Maa, Maati, Manush,’ but they no longer use it, as the TMC now backs infiltrators and syndicates.”

He further sharpened his attack by highlighting alleged issues of violence and women’s safety.
“The biggest victims of TMC’s rampant ‘jungle raj’ are our sisters and our daughters,” PM Modi said.
Referring to incidents in Sandeshkhali, he added, “In Sandeshkhali, goons kept committing injustices against our sisters, while the ruthless TMC government continued to support those criminals.”
Also addressing economic concerns, particularly of the agrarian and labour sectors, the Prime Minister said, “We understand the concerns of jute farmers and workers. Therefore, the BJP-led central government has doubled the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of jute over the past 11 years.”
INVOKES NETAJI, CALLS FOR “AZADI” FROM TMC
Invoking nationalist leader Subhas Chandra Bose, PM Modi said, “Bengal needs to remember the sayings of Netaji, ‘Tum mujhe khoon do, main tumhe azadi dunga’.”
He added, “Bengal today needs every single vote of yours, with the help which we will give you azadi (freedom) from TMC’s scams, goons, violence.”

According to news agency PTI, PM Modi is scheduled to address two rallies in North 24 Parganas and Hooghly districts and participate in a roadshow in Kolkata later in the day to galvanise support for BJP candidates.
In the evening, he is expected to spearhead a high-profile roadshow in Kolkata, beginning from BK Pal Avenue and concluding at Khanna Crossing, covering key stretches in north Kolkata.
