Shah will address two public meetings in Jamalpur and Shyampur Assembly constituencies in the afternoon, followed by two roadshows in key areas of Howrah and South Kolkata.
The roadshows will cover Shibpur, Howrah Central, Howrah South, Tollygunge and Jadavpur constituencies, highlighting the BJP’s intensified outreach efforts ahead of the second phase of polling.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday addressed a high-energy election rally in Jadavpur in Kolkata, stepping up the BJP’s campaign.
“Bumper voting in the first phase of polling…unprecedented since independence…BJP has got a lot of support. Everybody is fearless and supporting the BJP in the election…Only one slogan in Bengal, ‘its time for a change in Bengal’…First phase of voting has confirmed that TMC won’t be able to open its account in many districts,” he said.
The second phase of voting in West Bengal is scheduled for May 29. The counting of votes will take place on May 4.
