Tension escalated in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district on the night before polling after a violent clash broke out between Trinamool Congress (TMC) and CPI(M) workers, leaving at least four people injured, police said. The incident took place in Raipur village of Domkal district.
According to reports, the incident took place late in the night when supporters of the two parties allegedly engaged in a confrontation that quickly turned violent. During the clash, several individuals sustained injuries, triggering panic in the area just hours before voting.
CPI(M) worker Rakibul Ansari was seriously injured in the incident and has been referred to Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital for advanced treatment. His father, Mahabul Ansari, who is also associated with the CPI(M), was present during the incident.

Voting In West Bengal Tomorrow
Voting for the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 will be held tomorrow. The Election Commission of India has made extensive security arrangements across the state. In this phase, 152 constituencies will be covered. Districts include Cooch Behar, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Malda, Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinajpur, and parts of Birbhum, Murshidabad, Nadia, and Hooghly.
The first phase of voting will cover multiple constituencies across different districts, with polling scheduled from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Voters have been advised to carry valid identification documents and follow all Election Commission guidelines at polling stations. Special attention is being given to areas identified as sensitive or vulnerable to ensure free and fair elections.
Major political parties, including the Trinamool Congress, BJP, CPI(M)-led Left Front, and Congress, are in direct contest across several seats.
Campaigning has ended, and the state is now under the Election Commission’s model code of conduct enforcement, with authorities monitoring movement of cash, liquor, and other inducements.
