A 36-year-old woman has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually abusing a 17-year-old boy in Kerala’s Kasaragod district, police said. The case was filed at the Rajapuram police station.
According to officials, the matter came to light during an unrelated investigation being carried out by Hosdurg police in another POCSO case, in which the same minor boy was an accused.
During questioning, the teenager reportedly disclosed that he had been previously sexually abused by the woman. Following this revelation, police registered a separate case against the woman under the stringent provisions of the POCSO Act.
Officials said further investigation is underway to verify the circumstances of the alleged abuse and to collect supporting evidence. Police have not disclosed additional details about the accused woman or the timeline of the alleged incidents.
Eight-Year-Old Girl Assaulted In Delhi’s Aman Vihar
In another case reported earlier this month in Delhi, a man was arrested in connection with the sexual assault of an eight-year-old girl in the Aman Vihar area.
According to police officials, the accused allegedly lured the minor to his residence on the pretext of repairing a speaker before committing the crime. Acting swiftly on the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Criminal Code and Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Section 8 of the POCSO Act, 2012, mandates punishment for “Sexual Assault,” defined under Section 7 as non-penetrative physical contact with sexual intent. Offenders face rigorous imprisonment for a term not less than 3 years, extendable up to 5 years, along with a fine. This section specifically targets sexual touching without penetration.
