All concerned departments have been asked to remain vigilant and intensify efforts to keep pollution levels from worsening further.

Delhi’s AQI was recorded in Very poor category.
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has ordered the implementation of Stage-I restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across Delhi-NCR with immediate effect, following a decline in air quality.
According to the official order, the Sub-Committee on GRAP reviewed the current air quality situation and forecasts. Authorities noted that pollution levels have been rising due to unfavourable weather conditions.
The order stated, “The AQI of Delhi has been showing increasing trend owing to unfavourable meteorological conditions and recorded as 226 (‘Poor’ Category) today i.e. on 16.04.2026. Further, the forecast by IMD/ IITM has also predicted AQI to remain in ‘Poor’ category in next two days.”
Based on this assessment, the panel decided to activate Stage-I measures across the National Capital Region to prevent further deterioration.
Authorities have been asked to ensure strict implementation of pollution control measures, while citizens may also be required to follow guidelines under the citizen charter.
