Fake Call Centre Racket Busted in Delhi’s Guru Arjun Nagar, 12 Held
The Anti-Narcotics Cell of the Delhi’s Central District Police has uncovered a fake call centre operating in Guru Arjun Nagar area. A total of 12 people have been arrested in connection with the case.
According to the police, a tip-off was received on April 4 about the illegal operation. Acting on the information, a team led by Inspector Rohit Kumar carried out a raid at the Ratan Lal Complex.
During the operation, two owners and 10 tele-callers were caught at the spot.
The investigation found that the accused contacted people under the name “RD Services”. They promised roadside assistance in case of vehicle breakdowns.
To build trust, they offered a ‘Cash on Delivery’ option and sent plastic policy cards to customers.
People were charged between Rs 3,000 and Rs 4,000 for the fake policies. Once the money was received, the accused stopped responding to calls and did not provide any service.
During questioning, the accused admitted they had been running the call centre for the past six months.
A keypad phone was used as the helpline number, and incoming calls from customers were deliberately ignored.
Police seized computers, fake policy cards, customer data, mobile phones, and attendance registers during the raid.
All the accused have been handed over to Ranjit Nagar Police Station. An FIR has been registered, and further investigation is in progress.
